Suji Ka Halwa or Sooji Halwa is a popular Indian dessert which is especially prepared during various festivals and religious functions. During festivals -Navratra Puja aka Navratri Puja or Durga Puja, Vijayadashmi aka Dusshera, Diwali etc Suji Halwa is served along with other festive food items – Puri, Kala Chana, Aloo Ki Sabji, Jeera Aloo and Boondi Raita or Kaddu Raita (Pumpkin Raita). Suji ka halwa is a pudding made with suji (semolina), ghee (clarified butter), sugar, dry fruits, almond flour, and water. You can have Sooji ka halwa using 7 ingredients and 7 steps. Ingredients of Sooji ka halwa
- You need 100 gm of sooji.
- Prepare 100 gm of sugar.
- Prepare 200 ml of water.
- You need 1 tsp of Garam masala (cloves, green cardomom,cinnamon).
- It’s 100 gm of Ghee.
- It’s As needed of Food colouring as per choice.
- You need as needed of Dry fruits as per choice.
I have slightly flavored the halwa with berries, saffron, and cardamom powder. Sooji ka halwa instructions
- Heat the ghee in a pan and some garam masala to it.
- Now add the sooji and fry it till it turns slight brown.
- On the other side make a syrup with the sugar and water.
- Now add the syrup into the sooji and stir well.
- Add a pinch of food colouring to give a beautiful golden yellow colour to it and stir again till it cooks completely and becomes non sticky.
- Now add ghee for additional taste and flavour.
- Garnish the halwa with dry fruits and serve hot.
